Emirates further expands its network
Emirates Airline is growing its route network with the introduction of three new destinations in the next six months – in addition to the 12 new routes already announced as to be launched this year.
On 1 November, Emirates will inaugurate its fifth Australian destination with the start of four times a week B777-300ER flights to Adelaide. The frequency is expected to rise to daily on 1 February 2013. The airline also plans to boost its current double-daily Perth service to a triple-daily operation from 1 March 2013.
The French city of Lyon will be added to the Emirates network from 5 December with a five times a week A340-500 service and a daily A330-200 service to Warsaw is set to launch on 6 February 2013.
The carrier has already launched ten new destinations in 2012, while Erbil and Washington will join the route network on 12 August and 12 September respectively.
HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, chairman and chief executive, Emirates Airline, stated: “Emirates is currently in a concentrated and sustained period of global expansion,” noting that “the addition of Adelaide to our network and the boost to our Perth operations demonstrates our commitment to investment and growth in our Australian operations”.
He said that the boosted French service was in response to “acute demand for our services to and from this market”, adding that the new Warsaw routeing was an “exciting push into this region of Europe”.
