Qatar continues to expand network across the world
Qatar Airways has confirmed that the latest addition to its rapidly expanding international network will be Maputo in Mozambique.
From 31 October, the Doha-based carrier will serve the southern African city three times a week with ‘freight-friendly’ B777 services.
Maputo will become Qatar Airways’ 20th African connection. It recently launched flights to Kigali in Rwanda, while 25 July will see the inauguration of services to Kilimanjaro in Tanzania and on 15 August Qatar Airways will begin flying to Mombasa in Kenya.
Noting that Mozambique’s chemical manufacturing, aluminium and petroleum production are growing, while it is also a strong agricultural sector, the carrier’s CEO, Akbar Al Baker, observed: “Mozambique is a great example of a market that we believe has great potential.”
